Mbodj, who is a native of Dakar, Sengal spent the last two years at Grayson County College in Denison, Texas. A small town on the border between Texas and Oklahoma, roughly an hour and a half from Dallas. Last year at Grayson Mbodj averaged 14.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks leading the Vikings to a 20-11 mark. Mbodj was named an honorable mention All American and the co-player of the year in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Association. For what its worth Mbodj had a great showing in the admittedly defense averse Deveroes Summer League.
2011 and Beyond
Mbodj was considered a likely starter this season. But he got nicked up in practice and might be out for the first few weeks of the season. In the end this team will rely on Mbodj to play great defense and rebound. He is a very athletic for his szie and is already the oldest man on the roster. I don't think he will have any trouble finding his role and thriving in it. His play will be judged the same way that Justin Jackson's is. Defense and rebounding first, anything on the offensive end is something of a bonus.
