Over the last decade the Cincinnati Bearcats have turned out quality defensive line followed by quality defensive line. The lineage runs deep with guys like Anthony Hoke, Angelo Craig and Terrill Byrd linking the current crop to Trent Cole, Antwan Peek and Andre Frazier. In 2011 UC is leading the nation in tackles for loss per game and second in sacks per game. Without question the epicenter of the front is Derek Wolfe who came into his own as a dominant force in the middle of the Bearcats defense. Wolfe has been a beast for burden for UC. He has started every game for the last three years. His 16 career sacks (to date) place him with Andrew Stewart for 8th in Bearcats history. Wolfe has done his bit to make sure that whoever wears 95 for the Bearcats again is going to have a hell of a time living up to the number.
