Coach Cronin earning respect among fight drama
I will not lie, I have never looked at Mick Cronin as an accesptional coach. He may have led the team to the NCAA, but I was never really sold...Until now!
I am really shocked at the lack of suspentions that were gave out!
After all, I sort of expected some of the players to miss conference games or even get kicked off of the team!
Coach Cronin has been the one bright spot in all of this. His respect for the sport and institution have given the Cats something positive to take from this. His stern comments and understanding that the players emberassed the school is what will allow this team to grow.
Hopefully as the year progresses they will be able to make a push for the tourney! Even if they can't get over the bubble, the Cats certainly have a coach for the long term!

Mick earned respect
for his handling of the affair. The comments were measrureed and accurate and appropriate. The penalties were stiff and quick and appropriate. However, the performance fo teh basketball team since the tournament appearance lasts eason has been less than anticipated. While Mick is handling this circumstance well, I’m not sure it will be enough to help him keep his job.

Based on Wright State game
there may be reason for hope. Up until that game the offense has been miserably slow and low scoring. It seems now that Mick may have found a way to produce a more potent attack. Let’s see how it progresses as the suspensions run out and players return to the floor.
This morning’s paper has comments from Mick about abandoning his low post offense. I thought, what low post offense. If that is what they were to be running, why was the low post so vacant?

The offense
Has been slow and disjointed for most of the season because Cronin has tried to run the offense through the post. It doesn’t really work, because Yancy Gates is not a true post player. He isn’t comfortable there, but he could excel in a four guard look when he gets back to the team
