Cincinnati 68, No. 11 Georgetown 64: You want to hear an impressive stat? Cincinnati has now won six straight Big East road games, with the last two coming against ranked teams. And the Bearcats did it against Georgetown not with the powerful offense that was on display during the first four games of Yancy Gates’ suspension but with the powerful and staunch defense that we expected from this Bearcat team all season long.
Thats the one thing about offensive explosions, they cover up the defense, for good or bad. UC's defense has actually been good for most of the season, and was terrible for 34 minutes Monday night.
"I've never been more proud of Yancy Gates," said Coach Cronin. "He had 10 deflections which for him is off the charts. For any big guy - that's off the charts."
It took a few years but Yancy Gates has finally started to live up to his defensive potential. He was generally excellent with none of the usual mental lapses.
Bearcats Breakfast 1.10.12
As always Paul Dehner covers a lot of ground. His stuff on Georgetown is right up top.
The Bearcats are one of five programs that have won 10 games in four of the last five seasons, joining Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon and Virginia Tech.
That is bound to be a tidbit that will be inserted into every preseason magazine come June. Not bad company to keep.

Bearcats at 2. Right where they should be

Bearcats in at number 4 because it always makes perfect sense to underestimate one of the two programs in the Big East that have won with any consistency, and the only one of the two that is guaranteed to play next season in the Big East (hint*).
*note: hint is not for those without a sense of humor and/or those who are easily offended. Not that there are very many easily offended people who read this site any more. But I have been implored to forewarn anyone of potentially offensive material by SB Nation Legal**
**note: This is a lie.

Ballin' is a Habit: #BIAHRoadTrip The Diary Part V: Leaving Lexington, eating chili and Troy making friends with Cincinnati fans
The guys from Balling Is A Habit stopped by Cincinnati for Monday and Tuesday. Apparently they stayed at the Hotel that woke me up at roughly 7 every morning for the duration of its construction. I still curse the existence of such a place.
