Defensive Linemen | Lettered 1959-60
Kostelnik is arguably the best defensive linemen in the history of the Bearcats program. What is strange about Kostelnik is that he wasn't a long term star for the Bearcats. He started just two seasons for Goerge Blackburn's Bearcats but turned himself into a great defensive tackle for the Bearcats. While he never made an all conference or all American squad* Kostelnik proved his worth at the next level.
*The first because UC was not in a conference at all when Kostelnik played, and the second because the Bearcats did not win big.
Taken in the second round by the Green Bay Packers Kostelnik became a mainstay for the Pack up front. He was a devastating run stopper and picked up a pair of Super Bowl wins, the first two actually, before moving on to the Colts for a season before retiring.
