A quick refresher on the format. There are 6 teams in each pool, each team plays every other team once. A win is worth 2 points, a loss 1. The two teams at the top of the table advance to the knockout round which begins at the quarter final stage. Any ties in the group stage are resolved in favor of the head to head winner. Seeding for the quarterfinals is based on points scored, allowed and the differential of the team. Here is the table for pool C, the US's group, after the first games.
Win | Loss | Points For | Points Against | Point Differential | Points | |
United States | 1 | - | 140 | 46 | +94 | 2 |
Australia | 1 | - | 85 | 57 | +28 | 2 |
Canada | 1 | - | 84 | 69 | +15 | 2 |
