Football Opponent Previews: Miami Hurricanes

As fellow independents the Bearcats and the Hurricanes spent much of the 80's playing each other, whether that was for lack of options or for some other reason I have no idea. But the Cats and Canes played every season between 1982 and 1989, which means that the Bearcats were on the menu for three of the Hurricanes National Championship teams. This meeting however will be the first since 1998, and much has changed for both programs.

Bearcat Opponent Previews: Memphis Tigers

It can be a very difficult task getting excited about a team that has won 10 games in the last four seasons, but there is real cause for optimisim for the Memphis Tigers for the first time since the halcyon days of Deangelo Williams. Memphis boasts arguably the best defensive line in the conference, and one of the countries most underrated defenses as a whole, and a special teams group that will keep them in games. But what of the offense?

Football Opponent Previews: Ohio State

Year three of the Urban Meyer era finds the Buckeyes in an interesting position. They have a proven quarterback in Braxton Miller, a ridiculous array of four and five star skill position talent and some areas where that are clearly lagging behind. The Buckeyes are almost certainly the most talented and the best team on the Bearcats schedule. But taking the macro view they also seem likely to take a slight barely perceptible step back in 2014 before making a gigantic leap forward in 2015.

Football Opponent Previews; Miami RedHawks

From 1888 to 2005 the universities of Cincinnati and Miami played 110 times without having either side win more than 5 games in a row. It was in many respects a perfect distillation of a regional rivalry with close schools (geographically, not so much culturally), a traveling trophy and boatloads of contempt floating both directions. But since 2005 nothing has been the same.

Football Opponent Previews: Toledo Rockets

The last time that the Rockets and the Bearcats met on the field of play the Bearcats were living something of a charmed existence. They came into that game in the Glass Bowl sitting on a 5-0 record with a top 25 ranking and visions of wintering in Miami dancing through some fans heads. Then it all crashed around us as a four hour festival of Murphy's Law ended with the Bearcats heading back down I-75 in defeat.
