"You have to have some fortitude about you as a group," Cronin said. "Nobody’s going undefeated and it’s about where you finish, not where you start, so you’ve got to have enough toughness to move on. But you’ve got to have enough accountability to look in the mirror and see where you’re weakest and for us it’s our ability to play at our apex defensively on a nightly basis."

"This is it right here," Dixon said. "Do or die right now. Our back is against the wall. We let a lot of games slip away from us that we know we could have won. We don’t know what it is; we can’t let it keep happening with our careers going down."

Providence fell victim to a stifling defensive effort by South Florida Saturday, dropping a 55-48 decision at home. The Bulls held Providence to just 30.8 percent shooting and used a timely second-half run to complete a season sweep of the Friars. PC was in front heading into the late stages of the game until USF ripped off a game-changing 14-2 run over the final four minutes. Vincent Council was the Friars' lone double-figure scorer with 16 points. Providence has now lost three straight and seven of eight overall.

This is one Cincinnati should win, and Cincinnati should win kind of easily. They need a strong effort coming off the Marquette disaster. What better opponent than the bottom feeder? I'm a little worried about the PC guards having a big day, but UC should be able to get looks when they want. The Bearcats dominated PC for long stretches last season before fading late and having that game go into OT. I'm thinking UC matches the margin of last year, but in regulation.

Ice Cotton, meet your match: In conference play only: Ice Cotton 3pt FG – 37-94 (39.4%); Sean Kilpatrick 3pt FG – 33-84 (39.3%). Oh it’s on! It’s a three point shoot out! Even though no one has taken more threes in BIG EAST play than Cotton, Kilpatrick has the most attempts in all games amongst BIG EAST players and hits them at a 40% clip. Remember that Noriega guy from USF? Yeah, the Friars are going to have to do the opposite of what they did against him.

Should be fun no?
