This was an absolutely brutal game to watch. South Florida is a good defensive team and their length caused all kinds of issues for the Bearcat offense from the start. The Bulls played like a team who's live depended on winning this game. The combination of the Bulls inherent defensive presense coupled with numerous offensive liabilities resulted in a game where everyone in white knew that if it got to 50 they weren't winning.

UC played well enough to win the game. But they did not play "good" by an stretch of the imagination. The offense could not find any semblance of rhythm. Dion Dixon struggled with his shot. JaQuon Parker was a non factor. Yancy Gates was bothered greatly by the length of Augustus Gilchrist and worst of all the UC defense gave up a ton of easy baskets at the rim.

I am not ready to jump on the NIT bandwagon which many seem all too happy to do. There are still enough quality wins on the resume to offset the oft discussed warts. If March Madness started today the Bearcats would be in it. One more win seals it, whether in the regular season or the Big East tournament.
