Tonight was Senior Night and the Bearcats bid adieu to two Seniors instrumental to the rebuilding effort of Mick Cronin. Yancy Gates and Dion Dixon mean a ton to this program. They deserve to go out right by dancing again. And that is going to happen. But the biggest reason for that was junior JaQuon Parker. Parker was a man possessed notching 28 points, grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing a couple of dimes and generally being the baddest of all badasses.
But it wasn't just Parker. Dion Dixon got 21 of his own including an emphatic dunk that essentially ended the contest. Yancy Gates had 12 boards, 6 points and three steals in a little over 20 minutes. And I can't go further without mentioning that Justin Jackson continued his stellar run of form with 6 points, 4 boards, 7(!) blocks.
If you have any doubts about this team at this point I can't fathom what they are. The consistency is, and has been an issue, but this team can win in so many different ways. Slowdown, up tempo, defensive struggle, offensive shootout and now we can add winning games without three point shots falling to the half a dozen three fests from earlier in the year. This team is deep, talented, motivated and best of all flexible.
Oh and the Bearcats delivered a proper response to Buzz Williams for this.
