I thought that this game would come down to turnovers. And that UC had an advantage because they simply don't make as many mistakes as Florida State did. For most of the game that little theory of mine did not hold. Not in the least. It was a defense dominated turnover filled game that might just have set Basketball back 20 years. But when the pressure ratcheted up Florida State made consecutive colossal errors that both led to UC points and put the Bearcats ahead for good.
And that's what this team does now. The high flying run and gun bunch that threw up threes at random times from indiscriminate angles and watched most of them fall. The team that rolled through January winning 10 of 11 that one is gone. In their place is a team that is undersized at almost every position and yet scraps harder on both ends of the floor and wins because they are simply the toughest team in the country. And I love it.
Up next Ohio State. But more on that tomorrow. For now lets celebrate this win and enjoy this team. Enjoy the fact, fuck, celebrate the fact that a team that was written off on December 10th, the program that was written off 7 years ago is back where it belongs. I love this team and all the people who abandoned this program when Huggins was fired have no idea what they are missing. Onwards and upwards.
