Running Back | Letters 2002-04

There are plenty of redemption songs on this list of the Greatest Bearcats in program history. UC has never had it easy in terms of recruiting and has obviously taken some risks giving guys second chances. Not all of the risks paid off, but some paid off spectacularly.

One such instance is Richard Hall. Hall was a school boy god at Wyoming. He was the offensive player of the year for the state and planned to enroll at Ohio State but his academics threw a wrench in the plans. Hall didn't qualify initially and spent what would of been his freshman season getting his grades up. He did just, enrolled in school but never really joined the team.

He came back to Cincinnati and spent time working at FedEx. He enrolled at UC in 2001 and spent his first two seasons behind DeMarco McCleskey. After 2002 McCleskey moved on and Hall stepped into a starting role. He lead the Cats in rushing both years. He also had the last 1,000 yard season by a UC back until Isaiah Pead came along.
