I don't anticipate this being a fun afternoon. Gunner Kiel might play today, he might not, I don't know what is going on, so I won't even try to make a guess. All I do know is that it doesn't really matter because the Bearcats defense doesn't give them a chance to win any games right now. This defense requires offensive perfection, and that is not something that this group can deliver without a 100 percent Gunner Kiel or either of the first choice running backs.
Any offense that is merely competent has a chance to do massive, massive damage to this defense. I don't see any way for a miracle turnaround to happen right now. My guess is that Hank Hughes will stick to his "little bit of everything" defense rather than throwing it out the window in favor of two or three simple schemes that everyone understands and knows their keys in. If he does so that would be great and it would give the Bearcats a chance to make a run in AAC play. If he doesn't he is fired in December, or sooner. Preferably sooner.
