Linebacker Ulysees Gilbert Decommits From The Cincinnati Bearcats

Tommy Tuberville and his staff jumped out to a big class very early in the process, getting to 21 commits in August. In recent months there has been some attrition to the class of 2015. The latest to decommit is Gilbert, a consensus three star inside linebacker from Ocala, Florida.

Gilbert originally chose the Bearcats over South Florida back in August. Whether or not the South Florida offer is A) still on the table, or B) commitable is information that I am not privy to. What I do know is that USF does not have a true middle linebacker committed at the moment, nor have they secured the commitment of a true middle linebacker in either of the last two classes. That makes Gilbert's combination of size (he is a legit 6'1" 240) and speed (reportedly ran a 4.5 at UC's camp in July) a perfect fit at a position of need for the Bulls.

For what it's worth this isn't a situation where the Bearcats staff told Gilbert that he should probably look elsewhere. Tubs and Co. would still love to have Gilbert, but that is obviously not happening now. Best of luck to Ulysees on his odyssey.
