College Football Viewing Guide Week 15

Championship Saturday (and sort of Thursday, and Friday) is what this sport is about

Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

One way or another, most of the questions surrounding the playoffs will be answered by the close of business Saturday. Some answers could come earlier, yes I am looking at you Oregon. Marcus Mariota has lost 4 games as the Ducks starter, just four. Two of those losses have come at the Arizona Wildcats, both on the road and at home. Mariota exocised he Stanford demons with a dominating performance earlier this month, he will get a chance to do the same thing Friday night when the Ducks host PAC 12 defensive player of the year Scooby Wright III. I personally can't wait for that one.

The other game that really has my interest is Kansas State at Baylor. The Bears are effectively barred from the playoffs unless TCU loses to Iowa State and Ohio State losses to Wisconsin. One of those things could happen, Melvin Gordon could do Melvin Gordon things all over an Ohio State defense that has good stats, both traditional and advanced, but none the less feels wildly overrated. In any case Baylor needs to put on a monster performance At this point in the season we know, more or less, who is involved in the discussion and what needs to happen for each of the six teams with a real legitimate case. Now we will find out what happens.
