Jarred Evans was ostensibly brought into the Bearcats team to provide some competition for Gunner Kiel. And to perhaps be a change of pace for the offense when needed, with the resurgence of Munchie Legaux how much of those expectations Evans will be able to fill remains to be seen.
I like Evans as a passer, even though his legs will wind up being what gets him playing time. His throwing motion is nice and compact, and his footwork is good enough. He has good touch on his deep throws and is very accurate on the intermediate routes. When he is outside the pocket he sets up very quickly.
Evans is a gifted runner who can give defenses real problems with his mobility. He isn't a blazer who runs away from defenses, but he is quick enough to give defenses pause and he is good enough in the open field to take a 10 yard run and make it 30. The only problem is that Gunner Kiel is on the roster, and unseating him for the starting job is a very tall order. Still, having Evans on hand in case of injures isn't exactly a bad thing. The Bearcats could win some games with Evans if needs be.
