At Columbia High School (SC), Gladney received offers from Alabama, Cincinnati, Kentucky and Texas Tech. Back in 2011, he committed to Alabama and was a member of their class for a little over a year before flipping his commitment to Texas Tech. As you can see, that did not stick either as Gladney went the JUCO route for what seemed to be academic reasons.
Gladney winded up Copiah-Lincoln Community College (MS) and one program that kept his offer on the table was Cincinnati. In the middle of April 2013, The 6'2, 185-pounder gave his pledge to UC and would eventually end up signing his letter of intent to play collegiality with the Bearcats.
After officially signing with Cincinnati, Head Coach Tommy Tuberville spoke highly of Gladney saying that he is one of the best receivers he has ever recruited. Tuberville continued by saying Gladney would also play in the NFL. Not only does the head coach have high expectations for Gladney, but he does for himself as well. The former Crimson Tide and Red Raider commit stated that he would be the A.J Green of Cincinnati football back in February.
But that won't be an easy task as Gladney will be apart of an immensely talented wide receiver corps at Cincinnati. The Junior wide receiver will be competing with guys like Alex Chisum, Johnny Holton, Mekale McKay, Chris Moore and Shaq Washington for reps at the position. In camp, Gladney also spent time on the return team fielding punts and kickoffs. With Gunner Kiel having a bevy of targets out wide, Gladney could possibly be looking at a redshirt year.
You can check out what Gladney can bring to the table for UC here.
