The Bearcats got one of their biggest commitments in the class (highest ranked, actually) on National Signing Day in the form of Kevin Mouhon. The three-star prospect from Georgia is the little brother of Bearcats standout defensive lineman Silverberry Mouhon, who is the main reason he now suits up at UC.
Kevin picked up offers from many of the best programs in the country during the recruiting process. Schools like Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Wisconsin and many others pursued the Norcross High School (GA) linebacker.
In July of 2013, Mouhon committed to the Volunteers of Tennessee but did not shut down his recruitment. Despite being apart of the 2014 recruiting class in Knoxville, he took two visits to the Cincinnati campus. On August 31st, Mouhon unofficially visited and that lead to an official visit in the early stages of 2014. Six days after making his official visit to UC, Mouhon decommitted from Tennessee and signed with the Bearcats on National Signing Day.
Now, Mouhon is on campus and is trying to see the field as a true freshman. At times during camp, Mouhon was seen taking second team reps at middle linebacker behind Florida State transfer Jeff Luc. But the competition is far from settled. Mouhon will exclusively battle Clemente Cassius and Soloman Tentman as the back up for Luc. A redshirt year is possible for Mouhon but it definitely looks like he is the future of the inside linebacker position.
