According to Tom Groeschen, UC has sold out of their ticket allotment at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville for its first round match-up against Purdue on Thursday evening. There were only 550 allotted tickets, so while it is not an ungodly amount of tickets that were sold, it is good to see that the allotted section is out. Just because that this allotment is out does not mean that you cannot still get tickets. Vividseats.com still has a selection of seats starting at the $84 range, but I would expect those tickets to continue selling and to be out soon.
You had better believe that the arena will be packed to not only watch the UC-Purdue game, but people will be in attendance to watch Kentucky play immediately after. It is kind of cool that at least three of the teams on Thursday night will be within 180 miles of the play site. I've got a feeling that this might be one of the better attended sites for the second and third round based on the proximity of the schools.
If you are a betting man (I'm not), UC opened as a -1.5 point underdog on Sunday. That line has increased to a marginal -2 as we have approached this afternoon. It has been hammered home already, but we can expect a close "rock fight."
I'm getting to the point where I am willing to call any UC basketball game a "rock fight" because I have rarely witnessed a game with the Bearcats that wasn't a defensive struggle in some way. On paper, these teams are very similar. It is going to be an interesting game for sure.
