Cincinnati Recruiting: Weekly Whispers - Raymond Flanders offered, Bearcat commits on campus

UC sends out one new offer and gets visits from two committed prospects.

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to this weeks installment of "Weekly Whispers," our weekly series in which we keep Bearcat Nation updated on the latest recruiting news for the Cincinnati Bearcats. Lets see what happened this week on the recruiting trail.

Flanders gets UC offer

On Saturday, the Bearcats officially began their pursuit of an out-of-state pass-catcher in this years recruiting class. In hopes of finding another receiver to join '16 WR's Andrew Parchment and Marcel Paul, Cincinnati sent out an offer to '16 WR Raymond Flanders of Booker T. Washington (FL).

According to his Scout.com profile, UC is the first and only school to offer the 5'10, 170-pounder to this point, however I have not confirmed that with him. Down The Drive hopes to sit down with the Tornadoes pass catcher and get his insight and reaction on the Bearcats offer. You can check out Flanders in action here, courtesy of Hudl.

Sopko, Bycznski make visit

After a big win on Friday night against Avon Lake (OH), in which he threw for over 300 yards and had numerous touchdowns, '16 QB commit Jake Sopko made his way to Clifton to visit the Bearcats campus. Another committed prospect was on campus this weekend; '16 OC commit Zach Bycznski of Berea (OH).

As for the uncommitted prospects who took in the coming home party against Alabama A&M, it was '17 ATH CJ Hayes from South Warren (KY) and '17 WR Devonte Ross, a 6'5, 190-pounder from the in-state Lakota West (OH) program. Keep it locked with Down The Drive, as we plan to get the latest on the visits in the coming days.

New Brooks mixtape

When it comes to the 20156 hoops recruiting class, the big name is '16 SG Jarron Cumberland, and rightfully so. However, do not forget that the Bearcats also have Nysier Brooks, a three-star center from the state of New Jersey.

Yesterday, CourtsideFilms.com released the latest mixtape of the 6'9, 200-pound big man who will be sporting the red and black next season. You can check out the highlight reel of Brooks throwing down dunks and rejecting the shots of his opposition below.
