- Series history: This is the first time Cincinnati has visited Butler since 1971 when the Bulldogs claimed a 79-75 victory. That was also the last time the Bulldogs defeated the Bearcats before last year’s buzzer-beating triumph at Fifth Third Arena. UC won three contests in the interim and leads the all-time series 10-7.
The Butler Bulldogs were very rude guests when they visited Cincinnati last year. Roosevelt Jones got a layup to go in as the final seconds ticked off the clock to give the Bulldogs a 78-76 victory over the then No. 17 Bearcats.
Now UC gets the chance to pay back Butler in kind. Once again, the Bearcats are nationally ranked, after jumping to No. 22 in the AP Top 25 earlier in the week. Butler has been in the rankings in back-to-back weeks but just dropped a 72-71 decision on the road to Indiana State to end its perfect start to the season.
