Might Cincinnati have just found its quarterback of the future? It's certainly possible as Desmond Ridder, who we talked about in last week's Bearcat 'Crootin, verbally committed to UC over the weekend.
The timeline for Ridder's commitment was quick. Blink-and-you-will-miss-it-entirely quick. After announcing on Twitter that he received an offer from UC on May 6, Ridder visited the Bearcats' facilities seven days later. The day after his visit, which happened to be this past Saturday, Ridder committed.

Ridder, a recruit for the 2017 class, is tagged as a pro-style quarterback by 247Sports, but has the tool set to be more than just a guy that delivers from the pocket. He can run with the ball and create time with his legs. He will enter his senior season at St. Xavier Catholic School in Louisville this fall, looking to build on the success he has already had in his first three seasons.
According to MaxPreps, he threw for 897 yards and five touchdowns, as well as seven interceptions, while completing 53.5 percent of his pass attempts in eight games last fall. He made up for the lackluster passing by rushing for 422 yards and nine touchdowns. That type of two-way threat is something that kills in college, as we all know, and would add an interesting wrinkle to UC's passaholic offense.
