Tommy Tuberville and the Cincinnati Bearcats kicked off the 2016 season last week with a 28-7 win over the University of Tennessee-Martin. The 1-0 Bearcats look to continue their winning ways against an improved Purdue Boilermakers team.
Purdue opened their 2016 season last week with a 45-24 win over Eastern Kentucky. They are led by Darrell Hazell, who has been Purdue's head coach since the 2013 season. Hazell has compiled a 7-30 record in West Lafayette. Before becoming the coach at Purdue, Hazell served as the head coach at Kent State University, where he compiled a 16-10 record. In 2015, Purdue finished last in the Big Ten's Western Division. The Boilermakers went 2-10 overall and 1-7 in conference play. The 2016 Purdue team is far more experienced than its predecessor. They are led by sophomore quarterback David Blough and running back Markell Jones, who posted 145 rushing yards on 24 carries last week against Eastern Kentucky.
