  • Series history: UC is 5-0 against SMU when its the home team and 1-3 when it goes on the road. Good thing this one’s at Fifth Third. The two teams split last year’s meetings, with an average margin of victory of 4.5 points. Each of the last four contests have all been decided by less than 10 points.

The Cincinnati Bearcats easily leaped over a supposed early American Athletic Conference schedule hurdle this past Saturday, topping Houston 67-58 on the road. Now they face another tough test, as they will take on the SMU Mustangs, a team that has won 10 games in a row.

UC (13-2, 3-0 AAC) is on a winning streak of its own, with victories in each of the last six contests. Ranked No. 22 in the country, the Bearcats got a bounce-back effort from Kyle Washington against Houston and will need another on Thursday.

SMU (14-3, 4-0) is not ranked but finally broke into the also receiving votes section in the AP poll. The Mustangs most recently rolled to an 84-65 romp over USF and have an average margin of victory of 17 points in league play.
