The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team make their 2017-2018 regular season home debut this Monday at the Cincinnati State Gymnasium.
At 7 PM, UC will play host to Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania as they look to even their record at 1-1.
On Friday evening, the Bearcats lost on the road to the East Tennessee State University Buccaneers 87-77. Cincinnati received strong performances from senior forward Shanice Johnson and front court newcomer Imar’i Thomas, but failed to shut down ETSU’s strong outside shooting in the defeat.
Division 2 Slippery Rock plays in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)’s Western Division. They are currently 0-2, having lost a pair of games to teams from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), which is also a Division II conference.
On Friday evening, Slippery Rock was hammered by Virginia State University 82-55. On Saturday, they lost a tight game to Lincoln University, 78-72. Both games were played in Richmond, Virginia as part of the PSAC-CIAA Challenge.
Slippery Rock is led by junior guard Ciara Patterson, who is a strong outside shooter, and senior forward Mallory Heinle, who is a commanding presence in the post for “The Rock,” as the school is nicknamed.
Please go cheer on your Bearcats in their regular debut on Monday evening. If you cannot make it to the CIncinnati State Gymnasium, broadcast coverage of the game is available on GoBearcats.com.
