WBB Pulls Away Against Rival Miami (Ohio), 73-62

Bearcats win third straight.

The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team won their third straight game on Saturday, pulling away in the third quarter against the rival Miami (Ohio) Redhawks for a 73-62 win.

The victory at St. Ursula Academy was Cincinnati’s third straight, improving their overall record to 3-1.

UC took a 31-29 lead into the half, but senior co-captains Shanice Johnson and Ana Owens propelled the Bearcats to a third quarter surge. Cincinnati held a 13 point lead midway through the quarter, which they never surrendered.

Point Guard Owens led the team in scoring with 14 points and also dished out a team high of six assists. Forward Johnson posted 10 points, six steals, and six rebounds. Freshman phenom Iimar’I Thomas continued her double-digit scoring streak by contributing 13 points.

Cincinnati returns to action on Tuesday night November 21st, hosting Atlantic Coast Conference stalwart Pittsburgh at St. Ursula Academy at 7 PM. For those of you who cannot attend, head over to GoBearcats.com to watch.
