Jamelle Elliott and the Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team will surely be in the mood to bounce back from the tough loss they suffered on Tuesday to the Pitt Panthers.
On Saturday, the Bearcats will host the Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Colonels at 2 PM at St. Ursula Academy. The game will also be televised live on GoBearcats.com.
Cincinnati enters the game with a 3-2 mark. Pitt snapped UC’s three game winning streak in dominant fashion, 66-46. The Bearcats, who shot just 32 percent from the floor, look to get back into the groove offensively against the EKU Colonels, who play in the Ohio Valley Conference.
EKU is no slouch. They are currently 2-1. The Colonels dropped their opener to Bowling Green before scoring consecutive wins against Western Carolina and UNC-Greensboro.
Junior guard A’Queen Hayes is the premiere player on the Colonels’ roster. She leads the team in scoring, assists, and rebounding after three games. Hayes was named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for her outstanding performances against Western Carolina and UNC-Greensboro. Hayes began her college career at Ole Miss, but was dismissed from the club in 2016.
5’11 Junior forward Abby Wright and 6’3 Senior forward Madison Wood are key contributors for the Colonels, both of whom are averaging better than 10 points per game.
Cincinnati will have their hands full against EKU’s sizable and skilled roster, but the Bearcats depth will prove a major asset as they look to improve their record to 4-2.
