The University of Cincinnati women’s basketball team looked outstanding in their 2017-2018 debut, a 77-35 exhibition thumping of the Division II University of Findlay Oilers.

Cincinnati took a commanding 40-16 lead into the half. Bearcats coach Jamelle Elliott got a good long look at her roster in the exhibition, which was held at the Cincinnati State Gymnasium. Nine different Bearcats played for at least 10 minutes. A total of 12 Bearcats played in the game.

Junior guard Nikira Goings led the Bearcats with 16 points while Ana Owens and Antoinette Miller also reached double figures.

UC’s advantage on the boards was particularly pronounced, as the Bearcats outrebounded the Oilers 45-28 with Iimar’i Thomas leading Cincinnati with 11 rebounds.

Cincinnati shot nearly 47 percent from the floor and hit 5 of their 16 three-point attempts.

Sophomore guard Jenna Stegmaier led the way for the University of Findlay with 9 points.

UC women’s basketball makes their regular season debut next Friday night in Johnson City, Tennessee. The Bearcats face the East Tennessee State Buccaneers on November 10th at 7 PM. The game will be available live on GoBearcats.com.
