Miracles Are Real! Cincinnati Escapes with 17-16 Win Over Tulane

There might have been some luck involved, but the Bearcats won.

The Tulane Green Wave lined up for a 36-yard field goal with less than a minute to play, trailing by just a single point to the Cincinnati Bearcats. It looked pretty glum. UC appeared to be on its way to another heartbreaking loss. But Merek Glover's kick went wide left and the Bearcats ran out the clock to escape with a 17-16 win in New Orleans.

Gerrid Doaks had a huge day, running for 149 yards on 17 carries, including a 57-yard scamper during the Bearcats’ drive to run out the clock. Hayden Moore rushed for 39 yards himself, while adding in 248 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-27 passing. Devin Gray caught the lone touchdown pass, while finishing with 49 yards. Thomas Geddis had 54 yards on three catches to lead the team, while normally leading receiver Kahlil Lewis had just one catch for 12 yards.

On defense, the Bearcats shut down Dontrell Hilliard, the third most productive running back in the AAC, as he had only 40 yards on 18 carries. Tulane only had 358 yards compared to 456 from the Bearcats, who improved to 3-6 overall while earning their first league win of the season.

Buckle up everybody. The bowl dream is still alive.
