  • Series history: If you don’t know that UC beat Xavier 86-78 last season than you must have been living under a rock at the bottom of the ocean. That win was the first for the Bearcats in the series since 2012. But don’t worry, UC still leads the all-time series 50-34.

Let’s go! It’s the best day of the college basketball season: Crosstown Shootout Day. The No. 11 Cincinnati Bearcats take on the No. 21 Xavier Musketeers at the Cintas Center.

UC is a perfect 7-0 and has been off since Monday when they ran over Alabama State. This is an important game for the Bearcats and for more than the obvious reasons. Up to this point, they have not had a very challenging schedule. Ranked 344th in the country in KenPom’s strength of schedule metric, the Bearcats are still legit, but on Saturday they can prove it to the rest of the college basketball world.

Xavier is 6-1 and just eight days removed from being destroyed by Arizona State. However, the Musketeers got back on track against Baylor this past Tuesday, with a 76-63 win over the No. 16 Bears.
