Nikira Goings leads all scorers with 16

The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team improved their record to 6-3 this afternoon. They scored a decisive 54-33 road win over the Old Dominion Monarchs down in Norfolk, Virginia.

Cincinnati dominated the first quarter, taking a 16-3 lead after ten minutes. The Bearcats built up their lead to 24-3 early in the second quarter and cruised to an easy win.

Junior guard Nikira Goings led the Bearcats with 16 points while senior guard Ana Owens kicked in 15.

Cincinnati dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Monarchs 37-25. Senior power forward Shanice Johnson led the Bearcats in rebounds with 10.

Junior guard MaKayla Simmons led the Monarchs in scoring with 11 points.

Cincinnati returns to action next Sunday as they head over to Norwood for their annual tilt with crosstown rival Xavier. The game will be televised online at GoBearcats.com.
