We may be deep in the throes of preparing for the 2017 football season, but Luke Fickell and his staff are looking further down the road as well. The 2018 recruiting class added a new member yesterday when Daeshon Martin committed to the program.

Martin is a three-star defensive end recruit and once again shows that Fickell is doing a good job of building up the defensive ranks. There are a number of talented defensive ends on the roster right now, but the team will need to reload in the next two years. Martin helps with that need and does so by being more than just a body. He is considered the No. 54 DE recruit in the 2018 class and the No. 48 recruit in the state of Ohio. He is from Akron and plays for Archbishop Hoban. The 6’3”, 240-pound defender had 13 offers to his name and picked UC over such schools as Boston College, Colorado State and Minnesota.

Martin is the 15th hard commit for UC’s 2018 class, which includes fellow DEs Malik Vann and Blake Bacevich.
