- Series history: Even though UC and Michigan are two of the oldest program in the country, they have never squared off against one another.
The Cincinnati Bearcats don’t really have an arch rival in football, but Luke Fickell knows all about big time college football rivalries from his days at Ohio State. The new UC head coach is especially aware of the importance and challenge that comes with facing the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, which is just what the Bearcats will do today.
Expecting an upset will be more difficult than usual this week as UC is coming off a less than inspiring 26-14 win over Austin Peay in its season opener. Still, it was a win and the hope is the game served as a warm up and will allowed Fickell and his staff to iron out the kinks.
That will be necessary against Michigan, which has fielded another strong squad in 2017. Following back-to-back 10-3 seasons, the Wolverines ran over Florida last week, 33-17.
But enough of the pregame pleasantries. Let’s go shock the world.
