The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team scored one of their biggest victories in recent years last evening. UC defeated the upstart Houston Cougars team 88-82, scoring a road victory which improved the Bearcats’ record to 10-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Houston fell to 14-4 overall and 3-1 in the AAC with the loss.
Excellent shooting enabled the Bearcats to hang on in this back-and-forth contest. Cincinnati shot .524 from the floor, besting the Cougars who shot .441 last evening.
Senior point guard and co-captain Ana Owens led the way for Cincinnati, posting a team-high 27 points in 38 minutes of play. Sophomore forward Angel Rizor scored 18 points in the win.
The Bearcats return to action this Saturday at 1 PM when they host the Temple Owls at 1 PM at St. Ursula Academy. For those who cannot attend, the game will be televised online at GoBearcats.com.
