The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team overcame a small halftime deficit against the East Carolina Pirates but fell in overtime, 79-70. The teams played to a 68-68 tie after forty minutes at St. Ursula Academy. East Carolina dominated the overtime period, posting an 11-2 advantage in extra time.
The loss snaps Cincinnati’s four game winning streak, dropping their record to 13-8 overall and 5-3 in the American. With the win, East Carolina improved its overall record to 11-10 and 3-5 in the AAC.
Senior guard Ana Owens led the Bearcats in scoring with 15 points while junior Nikira Goings kicked in 10.
The Bearcats return to action at 7 PM on Tuesday when they host Central Florida at St, Ursula Academy.
