The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball game lost their second straight game this evening, dropping a 50-38 decision to the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights at St. Ursula Academy.
The Bearcats shot a mere 26 percent from the floor and were defeated on the boards 45-32 against a physical, athletic UCF team.
Cincinnati fell behind early and trailed 25-12 at the half. This game was never competitive in the second half.
Senior co-captain Shanice Johnson led Cincinnati in scoring with 14 points, the only Bearcats player to reach double figures.
Senior guard Zakiya Saunders and junior forward Masseny Kaba each posted 14 points for UCF in the victory.
Cincinnati fell to 5-4 in the American and 13-9 overall with the loss, dropping the Bearcats to fifth place in the conference.
UCF took sole possession of second place in the American with their win, improving their conference mark to 7-2 and overall record to 15-7.
Cincinnati hits the road for their next game, traveling to Hartford, Connecticut for a 1 PM Super Bowl Sunday tussle with perennial national power, the undefeated, number 1 ranked UConn Huskies.
