Clayton Picks All the Bowl Games Correctly: Week 1

a narrative history of today’s bowl games

NCAA Football: Tulane at Houston Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

Take these to the bank.

The New Mexico Bowl pits Utah State and North Texas in a matchup that will be interesting but not as interesting as the fine products available in New Mexico. One time in Albuquerque I had some fine chili verde and another time I visited Truth or Consequences and took a picture which I forgot to transfer to my new phone. That being said, I think the Mean Green are going to take care of business.

Final Score: North Texas 31 Utah State 22

The Cure Bowl will be Tulane’s cotillion as a major college football power. Watch Tulane’s speedy, resourceful offense pile the points against the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Final Score: Tulane 48 Lousiana 22

The Camellia Bowl is probably the healthiest of bowl games. It has been said around my parts that a big bowl of Camellia is the best cure possible for the piles.

Final Score: Georgia Southern 57 Eastern Michigan 22

I think the most fraternal matchup of the afternoon will be the Las Vegas Bowl. The students at Fresno State and Arizona State have the shared experience of getting waitlisted at UC-Irvine.

Final Score: Fresno State 37 Arizona State 23

The New Orleans Bowl takes place well past my bedtime. I figure that App State is going to take care of business. I have been ranking them really highly in my Underdog Dynasty poll all season long. I am not going to give up on them now.

Final Score: Appalachian State 47 Middle Tennessee State 0
