The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team dominated their crosstown rivals from Xavier on Sunday afternoon, pummeling them to the tune of 79-61.
UC broke open a 41-41 halftime tie with Xavier, dominating both the third (24-15) and fourth quarters (14-5) en route to a dominant victory.
Sophomore forward Ilmar’i Thomas put up a career bests in both points (20) and rebounds (18). Thomas anchored Cincinnati’s low post assault, which foiled Xavier’s smaller front court. Cincinnati out-rebounded Xavier 51-30 and posted twice as many points in the paint as X (32-16).
Other major contributor for the Bearcats included junior guards Sam Rodgers (14 points) and Antionette Miller (13 points).
The victory snapped Cincinnati’s four game losing streak to Xavier and improved the Bearcats record to 7-5. UC finishes up its non-conference slate at home on Friday night against Howard. Check back with Down the Drive for full coverage of the game.
