The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team fell this afternoon to the South Florida Bulls, 84-65.
The Bearcats hung tough in the first quarter at South Florida’s Sun Dome, trailing 16-15 after 10 minutes. USF broke loose in front of their home crowd during the second quarter, pulling ahead 43-30 at the break. South Florida never looked back, extending their lead further in a second half that was never close.
USF dominated the boards, 36-27. They shot better than 40 percent from outside and hit 14 of their 15 free throws.
Maria Jespersen led the Bulls with 26 points while Kitija Laska posted 22.
Ana Owens led the Bearcats with 15 points.
The defeat drops Cincinnati to 17-11 overall and 9-6 in the American.
#18 South Florida improved their record to 24-5 and 13-2 in the AAC.
Cincinnati returns home for their regular season finale on Monday against the University of Houston. The game will be held at 7 PM at St. Ursula Academy. It will be televised on GoBearcats.com.
