Women’s Basketball Preview: Houston

Bearcats look for win in regular season finale

NCAA Basketball: Wichita State at Houston John Glaser-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team returns to action on Monday evening against the Houston Cougars.

This 7 PM home contest at St. Ursula Academy will be televised online at

UC’s tilt with Houston will be their regular season finale. It is also important as they jockey for position in the AAC. This is essentially the AAC’s fourth place game.

Cincinnati, who is 17-11 overall, has a 9-6 record in the AAC. Houston, who is 20-9 overall, is also 9-6 in the AAC. They are currently tied for fourth place in the conference.

The Bearcats won their previous meeting, outlasting the Cougars in an 88-82 shootout in Houston.

Houston is one of the best and most frequent three-point shooting teams in the country. A triumvirate of sophomores, guards Jasmyne Harris (19.8 ppg) and Angela Harris (13.2 ppg) as well as forward Dorian Branch (11.4 ppg), are all shooting better than 35 percent from beyond the arc.

This will likely be a high-scoring game. Head over to St. Ursula to support the Bearcats on Senior Night.
