It wasn’t easy but the Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball team earned their 14th consecutive win this afternoon. After taking a commanding halftime lead, the Bearcats withstood a furious last minute comeback against the UConn Huskies.

Cincinnati earned a 65-57 road victory in Storrs’ always boisterous Gampel Pavilion.

Jacob Evans led the way for the Bearcats with 19 points and six rebounds. Kyle Washington posted a Kyle Washington-esque 13 points and 11 boards. East Hartford, Connecticut native Cane Broome also reached double figures with 10 points in this homecoming game.

UConn’s backcourt of Jalen Adams (20 points) and Christian Vital (18 points) contributed the lion’s share of the Huskies’ points.

The 8th ranked Bearcats improved to 21-2 overall and 10-0 in the American with the win. UConn fell to 11-12 overall and 4-6 in the conference with the loss.

Cincinnati returns to action on Tuesday night. They will host the University of Central Florida at 7 PM at BB&T Arena. Head back to Down the Drive for full pre-game coverage of this AAC contest.
