The good news is that junior forward Nikira Goings (20 points) and senior forward Shanice Johnson (17 points) performed well on the offensive end.
The bad news is that the Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team was never competitive in its Super Bowl Sunday showdown with the Number 1 ranked UConn Huskies at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
UConn ran out to a 32-13 first quarter advantage and never looked back. They ended up winning 106-65.
National Player of the Year candidate Napheesa Collier led the way for UConn with 25 points.
UConn improves to 22-0 (10-0 AAC) with the win.
Cincinnati falls to 13-10 overall and 5-5 in the conference with the loss. Thankfully, they do not have long to linger on this loss. They return to action Wednesday night on the road against Wichita State.
