Clayton Picks All the Games Correctly: Week One Thursday Special

The Miss Cleo of College Football returns!

Welcome back for season four of my prognostication column, “Clayton Picks All The Games Correctly.”

I, the Miss Cleo of College Football, am the nation’s foremost Thursday, Friday and Saturday clairvoyant.

In this column, I select the straight up winners of all the big games every weekend, American Athletic Conference or otherwise.

The spread, the over-under and all of that other jazz is way too confusing to sort out from the stars above. If you want the skinny on all of that, I recommend Carl’s “Stone Cold Lock of the Century of the Week” video prognostication service.

My Thursday column will cover any AAC contests scheduled for that evening as well as any other major Thursday night contests from around the country. My Friday column will separate the moneymakers from the heartbreakers for the weekend games.

Now let’s get down to brass tacks.

No. 21 UCF at UConn

Randy Edsall has got things headed in the right direction at UConn. They are starting to ’croot better, especially in the New York metropolitan area. That won’t be enough for them to pull the upset against a UCF team that is still laden with talent from their pretend national championship run last season.

Final Score: UCF 41 UConn 10

Wake Forest at Tulane

Dave Clawson’s crew could sure score some points last year, averaging better than 35 per game in 2017. The Demon Deacons’ heralded crew of wide receivers will put up some strong numbers against Tulane’s young defense this Thursday, but that won’t be enough for Wake Forest to walk out of New Orleans with a win. Tulane will control the football Thursday evening, piling up hundreds of rushing yards against Wake’s porous defense while owning the tempo of the game. The Green Wave are going to score an upset against their ACC visitors.

Final Score: Tulane 45 Wake Forest 42
