Stats to know

Ohio State has lost 6 home games in the last 10 years. And 12 total the last 20 years. The last loss was week 2 in 2017 against Oklahoma. That day, Cincinnati lost at Michigan, which was the last time they played a noon game on ABC (like they are this week).

The last three meetings between these teams (2015, 2006, 2002), Cincinnati scored the first touchdown of the game

Bearcats last win vs Buckeyes was 1897 - that was the last time Ohio State lost to an active D1 FBS Ohio school (technically, their last loss was 1921 to Oberlin College, who is now D3).

Three Keys to Victory

We’ll see if Cincinnati can win on Saturday. More than likely, they will at least cover the 16.5 points spread (for my personal benefit). But for the Bearcats to have any chance at all, they must adhere to these three keys to victory.

History of the Series

I would say history of the rivalry, but coach Luke Fickell was very clear in his press conference on Tuesday that Cincinnati’s rivalry game is next week (vs Miami Ohio). This might be a rivalry to players and fans, but it’s not to him. He also said he is “unemotional” about his return to Ohio Stadium. Fickell was at Ohio Stadium for 145 games as both a player and coach.

The history of these two teams is not favorable for Cincinnati.

Rough Road Run

Cincinnati has historically struggled in high profile non-conference road games, like this one.
