Yes, it’s only mid-April 2020 and the 2021 football season is 17 months away, but the fact that the Cincinnati Bearcats have reached #20 in the 2021 recruiting rankings speaks volumes to how hard this coaching staff is working and how successful they have been on the recruiting trail.

Last week, we highlighted a couple of big additions for both 2020 and 2021.

Over this past weekend, Cincinnati added two more for 2021.

First, 3-star safety Armorion Smith announced his commitment to UC on Friday.

Smith is the 22nd ranked player from Michigan and the 53rd ranked safety nationally. Smith chose Cincinnati over Michigan State, Iowa State, and Syracuse.

He joins an absolutely loaded secondary that in 2021 will include senior Ja’Von Hicks and fellow 2021 recruit Leroy Bowers at safety and at CB includes Justin Harris, Arquon Bush, Ahmad Gardner, Taj Ward, Sammy Anderson.

Smith is Cincinnati’s 4th highest ranked recruit (out of 9) for 2021. One of the recruits in front of him is Mao Glynn, the second commitment UC received this weekend.

Glynn is also the 4th player to commit from Cincinnati, as “hometown heroes” continues to become a theme for the Bearcats. He is the 31st ranked offensive guard and 28th player overall in Ohio. He had offers from Louisville, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, NC State.

The only 2021 commit ranked higher than Glynn is the other offensive lineman commit, Luke Collinworth, a big tackle who committed a week ago and is the 7th ranked player in Indiana.

Cincinnati is clearly trying to build their future in the trenches, on both sides of the ball.
