Sad news on the UC baseball front.

The father of UC baseball legend and former MLB All Star Kevin Youkilis has passed away.

Mike Youkilis was 71 at the time of his death. He is a UC alum and a former baseball coach for Cincinnati Knothole Baseball.

Mike Youkilis and his wife Carolyn were the co-owners of Midwest Diamond Distributors, which they founded in 1999. Their son Aaron has worked in the family business since 2004.

Kevin Youkilis, a 2001 UC graduate, is a member of the University of Cincinnati Athletics Hall of Fame and his number 36 has been retired by Bearcats baseball. He played 10 Major League seasons, primarily with the Boston Red Sox. Youkilis was a three-time All Star, two-time World Champion with Boston, and a Gold Glove Winner. He is also a member of the Red Sox Hall of Fame.
