The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball posted a much-needed road win against the Wichita State Shockers on Saturday, outlasting the home team by a 65-59 margin.

Cincinnati (2-5, 1-2) hung on to a slim lead for much of the contest, winning the trading of jabs in the first quarter by a 16-14 margin.

The Shockers kept at it all the way through the contest, never trailing by more than 10. Cincinnati held Wichita State to a miserable .365 mark from the field, preventing the Shockers from ever making a genuine run.

As usual, the Bearcats were led by senior superstar IImar’i Thomas, who posted yet another double-double—this time in particularly convincing fashion. She led Cincinnati in points with 24 and rebounds with 17. junior guard Destiny Haymer and senior forward Arame Niang each kicked in 10 for the cause.

The Bearcats return to action on Wednesday January 6th. They host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane for an AAC tilt at 2 PM on ESPN+.
