Bearcats MBB Displayed Genuine Grit in Win Over Temple

The Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball team posted their third consecutive win last night. The hotly contested 71-69 triumph over Temple at Fifth Third Arena was an awfully impressive performance, especially considering the short notice.

For much of the evening, Cincinnati imposed its will on the boards, wining the overall rebounding battle 40-33. While Temple tightened things up on the boards (and also on the scoreboard—this was a 10 point game late in the second half), Cincinnati showed that it bang in the low post against top notch AAC talent.

Seeing a pair of guards like David DeJulius and Jeremiah Davenport both snag 8 rebounds reflected the kind of gritty performance that Cincinnati put forth last evening.

Finding a way to hang on and get the win against a hellacious Temple comeback was similar encouraging. Whatever it takes to win, this John Brannen-coached team has been doing of late.

Cincinnati returns to action on Sunday at 1 PM when they play host to the University of Central Florida. Check back with Down the Drive for full coverage of the contest.
