Tough evening for Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball.
After falling behind 15-8 in the first quarter, Cincinnati (4-13, 3-10 AAC) hung in there well into the third frame against a physically overwhelming UCF club (10-2, 8-1 AAC).
Eventually, though, the combination of Brittney Smith (25 points) and Alisa Lewis (24 points) proved too much for Cincinnati. UCF shot 50 percent for the game and built a massive second half lead, which turned into a 70-51 final score.
Senior forward IImar’i Thomas posted 22 on 8 of 9 shooting for Cincinnati, leading the young club into battle as valiantly as always this season.
Cincinnati returns to action on Wednesday evening against #14 South Florida at 7 PM. The game will take place down in Tampa on the Bulls’ home turf. Check back with Down the Drive for full coverage of the contest.
