Despite Rough Sunday, The AAC Tournament was a Success for the Bearcats

Yesterday was rough.

Cincinnati was frankly uncompetitive in the final of the AAC Tournament. Once again, Houston proved themselves to be the class of the conference this season in Sunday’s 91-54 rout of the Bearcats down in Fort Worth.

Nevertheless, John Brannen’s Bearcats team put in a strong effort this weekend, knocking off both SMU and top-seeded Wichita State in rugged battles that looked a lot like games of Cincinnati’s past.

Eason, Williams, Madsen, Davenport, and company came up big in each of their first two contests in the AAC Tournament.

Shooting-wise, the Bearcats just couldn’t compete against Houston, hitting just 28 percent of their shots from the floor yesterday. There is no way they could compete against such an offensively explosive team posting those kinds of shooting numbers.

We’ll be looking back at the Bearcats’ up-and-down 2020-2021 season over the next few weeks here at Down the Drive. Thanks for your support.

Here are the “highlights” from yesterday below:
